Hey how are you doing? How are you liking this California weather?
I'm great man. This weather is cool.. except for the random rain. I can't keep my car clean.
Now let's get right into it....How did you get the moniker ELECTRIC BRANDON?
I used the word 'electric' as a word to describe me and my personality. I threw it in front of my name because I thought I was so cool. hahaahah
To some people you're just a photographer but in reality you're actually more than that ....you draw, paint, you make beats, & you're also into graphic designs correct?
Yeah all these are hobbies.
Is one more important than the other or do you have a happy balance where you do it all comfortably?
Well I mean some I'm better at then others. Like I said these are all hobbies I just developed a better skill at some. If I was to choose I'd say photography is the most important.
So you're not actually looking to turn any of these into a career?
I'm just doing what I love to do. Not looking for anything but if offers came to the table I would definitely take it. Well, if it's my style.
Ok & how long have you been doing photography?
I want to say after high school (May 2008) is when I started being serious with it.
How do you feel about photography being thrown into a trend file ......people just buying expensive cameras & taking a bunch of photos & saying they're a photographer?
aw man, I'm not too worried about it really. I focus on myself too much (haha). but I mean it is a trend, and trends change. So you know, those peoples will probably want to be horse riders or super heroes sometime soon.I wish people would want to be a doctor or lawyer or something like that. Especially our people. Get a high GPA dude, that's 'cool'.
What do you think makes some one a photographer because allot of people can't even see how you can put a label on it?
Interesting question because for a long time until this year I didn't really call myself a photographer. I mean probably cause everyone called themselves that and I wanted to step outside the box. But idk man, if you're a photographer, cool. hahahahha that's going to be my reply to everything now. 'cool'
Do you ever run with your random moments of inspiration or random ideas or do you sit down & start thinking it all the way through?
I have random ideas. A lot of ideas come to mind when I'm driving on the freeway for a long period of time.

meh, no solid favorites right now. I used to be a big Jay-Z fan but now-a-days I just want him to sit down.

You know how you wake up and there's a song in your head?
I just roll with that. It's like a fortune cookie on how my day will go.
What's motivation for you to get up & do what you do on a consistent bases?
I'm always motivated to be better. I'm always looking to make today way better then yesterday. Tomorrow will be even more epic.

What does a normal day consist of for Electric Brandon?
I work from 9-5 (so cliche). but after that it's always something different so eh.
How many hrs do you spend on editing photos? about 2-4 hours if it's a photo shoot. I take a lot of photos and I got to go threw all of them to make sure I'm picking out the right ones.
So you have a solid 9-5, school, 2-4 hrs on editing just how many hrs of sleep do you get?
man i used to get like 4, but now I'm making it a point to get at least 8 in. It just feels way better.
When do get some free time what do you usually do? Whatever I'm in the mood to do. Mostly something photography wise.
Which do you like more ...just capturing photos of every day things random moments random things ....or doing a photo shoot with another person?
Doing photoshoot's I really love because it's almost more like a painting and requires a different skill set then lifestyle pictures......to me. Personally I think I'm getting better at this too.
What's the process of finding a spot to do a photo shoot?
Usually I just drive around and find spots or if the model has a spot I'm always down.
& once you find a spot how long does it take you to set up?
If i have an idea set it only takes 2 secs.
Do you have a preference when it comes to what time of day you're shooting?
Man I try to shoot anytime really. Whenever free time I have I'm down.
What!!? i love free rain car washes bus speaking of the rain do you or have you done any shoots in the rain or is it just a no go for you? I haven't, but I'm down to shoot in the rain...but out here (Lancaster) It gets pretty cold & I'm not down with pneumonia like that.
When doing a photo shoot do you do allot of directing or do you let the person kind of just do whatever & you just capture what you can ...basically working with what they give you creating your own angles & such?
I usually let the model do whatever he/she wants to do. If I want to change something slightly I will, but I never want to take the naturalness out of it.
I would think directing the models would be the only thing frustrating about photo shoots but since you let them work freely is there anything that gets frustrating during photo shoots?
Well when 'models' stand there and say 'So what you want me to do?' Like i have to give full directions. I hate that. I like natural things & If I have to direct EVERYTHING from feet placement, arms etc., the person looks like a robot.
You do fully nude photo shoots correct?
I've done one so far. I need more female friends that are down.
Do you charge for photo shoots ? or is it just for the love it ? You know my initial reaction is to skip this question. I hate the 'how much you charge?' questions so much. But this is Famous J, so I'll answer here and hopefully people that ask me this will understand why I ignore them.
Okay, so check this out, I'VE NEVER MADE ANY MONEY OFF PHOTOGRAPHY. It's all for the love man. I'm not doing this or any of my hobbies to make money. It's what I love to do. I don't charge because I don't shoot with just anyone. I shoot with some friends and people I would love to work with. Me & models, we trade work. To better our portfolios. I just want to create some great art! No money involved. The good feeling of waking up with an idea then being able to bring that Idea to life is a great feeling. But like I said before If an offer ever came to the table for a paid shoot (if it's my style) then I'm down. why not?

Well I mean, depends what you are using Twitter for. Are you using it to talk to your friends or are you using it to network with other people that share the same interests as you? You can use it as a tool or a distraction. Your choice. Lately I've felt like I've been on Twitter for the wrong reasons. I haven't been on since the 22nd of November. I'll be back though.

6. Peace & Love which is self explanatory. I have my mothers name of course because I love her that much and she's such a strong woman. A single mother no father for me like most of us young African Americans. She's my backbone. My birthstone (opal). Malcolm X who is my idol and I look up too for his honesty and stepping up at a time where other leaders were scared to say certain things. Music note for music but on the same arm I have a tattoo of a DOOM mask which also represents music but with more emphasis on hip hop. If you like underground hip hop you know what it's all about. I got it the same reason MF DOOM wears the mask. What was the most important moment in your life or just a life changing moment that kind of made you who you are today……… I lived with my Grandfather for 4 years. He was basically my father figure since I never met my biological father. Dude was awesome.

aw man that's all my life. I used to make wrestling comic books and paint things for my mom when I was younger.
What type of things do you usually draw / paint?
Whatever comes to mind really. I've been uninspired lately though and because of that nothing I'm drawing or painting is looking good (to me).
How many pads of doodles & drawings do you have?
I don't even know. Some I lose and buy another one and then find it again.

Nah unfortunately not. I have one Night striker (my made up super hero from like age 10) comic book somewhere & I've kept a majority of my wrestling comics I used to do.

I would say like my junior year in high school.

nah. Just my bedroom is were all the work gets done.

I've never sold a beat. & that last one I made was a while back called 'Concrete Meadows'. I'm so super focus on this photography ish that I kind of fell off the beat making thing, but I mean I'm still down to work with artist to create some great art of course.

Are you a camera hoarder?
I've noticed people that are into photography start to have a huge collection of cameras ....just wondering how many do you have ? Yes I have a lot of old vintage cameras. Some work, some don't but I'm always looking to get more from random thrift stores and stuff.
Have you ever recruited a female to participate in a shoot from your job while trying on shoes or something?
Aw man, I haven't. Sometimes I see a woman walk in that I would love to work with, but I keep it 'professional in the work place.'
Would you ever be interested in shooting wild animals in Africa or something wild like that?
Oh hell yeah man. I'm jealous my cousin went to Africa this year. She's not a photographer but man, I would love that. I would take pictures of any African woman that's down to get close to the animals. I'm already down so no need in asking me.
